Rails>It's well known that Great Northern crossed the border into British Columbia and Manitoba, and these were the only Canadian provinces that GN claimed to serve directly. But GN also touched the Saskatchewan border at Northgate where it interchanged with CN. CN has long abandoned its branch to Northgate where it's all abandoned south of Regina except rails are in place across the International boundary. The ex-GN line remains in service all the way from the border to the main line at Berthold. Now, a company is going build a grain and crude oil loading facility in Northgate, Saskatchewan to access the U.S. rail network via the ex-GN branch. The Northgate line still has locomotive restrictions (4-axle power only), so look for this to be upgraded to accommodate the unit trains! I bet CN wishes they still went to Northgate!< above taken from a rails watching group. still looking for rail to service the hub not trucks. some months/year ago ceres stated either on bnn or q report that they were going to extend their rail miles, my guess would be the rest of the line into regina from cn, since they are using it already rather than switching with cn some miles out. above="" taken="" from="" a="" rails="" watching="" group.="" still="" looking="" for="" rail="" to="" service="" the="" hub="" not="" trucks.="" some="" months/year="" ago="" ceres="" stated="" either="" on="" bnn="" or="" q="" report="" that="" they="" were="" going="" to="" extend="" their="" rail="" miles,="" my="" guess="" would="" be="" the="" rest="" of="" the="" line="" into="" regina="" from="" cn,="" since="" they="" are="" using="" it="" already="" rather="" than="" switching="" with="" cn="" some="" miles=""> above taken from a rails watching group. still looking for rail to service the hub not trucks. some months/year ago ceres stated either on bnn or q report that they were going to extend their rail miles, my guess would be the rest of the line into regina from cn, since they are using it already rather than switching with cn some miles out.>
