Historical drill holes are surprisingGo to slide 12 of the Noka (NX.V) corporate presentation which shows all of the historical drill hole locations from the south west Athabaska basin. There were many dozens of holes drilled in this area, more than most are aware of I'm sure. However, incredibly, all of the drilling lies within the limits of the Athabaska sandstone and virtually not a single borehole extends even a inch farther to the south where the Athabaska sandstone is absent. This seems unbelievable considering what we know now (i.e PLS and now Arrow). What this indicates is that all this drilling is apparently from an earlier era, likely the late 1970s and early 1980s when the big Saskatchewan uranium boom was on. It was at this time that the Key Lake, MacAuthur River, Cigar Lake and Midwest Lake orebodies were discovered. However, you will note that all of the above are unconformity style orebodies rather than basement style (as per PLS). Either they weren't fully aware of basement style orebodies at that time, or weren't interested because they thought all of the big tonnage was at the basement/sandstone contact.
The next couple of weeks will be interesting. FCU should have an additional 20 or so holes to report on and should be ready to release some preliminary results from their radon gas surveys. Nexgen should be reporting on the first stepout holes at the Arrow zone and the Athabaska syndicate should be releasing details of their upcoming March drill program.
