RE:RE:A wall....
I will always believe that the markets can be / are manipulated by the people with power and money. In this case If I owned a larger oil company with deep pockets I would definately be open to manipulating other companies valuations if it suited my needs and it wouldnt take tens of millions to do it. The smaller the company the easier it is to do. If i own company A and company B is quite a bit smaller than me but im possibly interested in buying company B in the future I can easily hedge my bets by manipulating a stock price short and other tactics while company B does all the work drilling and proving resources. If company B is succesful I offer to buy it and a manipulated and undervalued price. If not I consider it a hedge and insurance against my smaller competitor. This can be done through third partys and if done properly will never be come to light. History has proved the manipulation of stocks buy the rich is a daily occurence.
