I think the main point to remember is that, if it is one zone contributing most of the water due to this bad cement job, then once that zone is isolated, the water cut reduction will lead to large oil flow increase (in most cases). So you will have more oil, with less water cut ... you should easily achieve a several-fold increase. Yes, it is not that simple, but in general the water will flow before the oil does, and so reduces the oil flow into the well bore. Also, the 7-9K bofpd was a RESTRICTED rate, because surface facilities could not handle the water, and only from 3 of potentially 6 intervals (albeit the thicker ones). There is huge potential here, but still a big IF with the elimination of water to make this more economic.
