Having worked in senior positions for both TSX and US listed firms, you might be surprised how many of them do not read any message boards. It's just chatter and speculation to them and they can't specifically address each comment or allegation, so why bother. They are focused and know what they need to do. They have all the information, and are in the best position to make decisions.
Having said that, I never responded to any message boards, but I frequently read them. My purpose was that if I saw common themes are questions, I would address them in the next Q or K so that they could then be discussed publicly. I was surprised when I talked to other execs from other companies though that did not do this.
