RE:RE:RE:here's my take (bluelight special)

RE:RE:RE:here's my take (bluelight special)PM, indeed we seem to be thinking along the same lines. I have a big interest in value and special situations investing as well as investor activism (I am publishing a book detailing my investment and activism philosophy in June of this year).
The following paragraphs of yours truly nailed it:
That is the essence of contrarian/value investing - a typical Buffet type investment - boring business with stable cashflows, hold long term, competitive cost advantage in thier chemicals business with dominant market share, potential revenue growth with crude to rail and a strategic location (Bruderheim) that intersects with two rail lines creating a strong competitive advantage (or valuable asset by a potential buyer)....

Just like you, I usually take large positions in the companies I invest in and CUS is no different. I have had similar large positions in the past in Equal Energy, and currently have a similar large position in Longview Oil as well. Canexus is an excellent hedge for my oil exposure in addition to being an attractive investment on its own merits.

Buying CUS today is akin to doing “emotional arbitrage”, whoever is selling today is unable to see beyond the fog created by the capex increase and the CEO firing uncertainty, yet the company underlying fundamentals remain very attractive and as always fundamentals ultimately carry the day.

That was a nice trade on Chorus, I looked briefly into them when the stock got creamed on the Air Canada issues, but unfortunately my capital was tied elsewhere at the time and I passed on the opportunity, I guess we can’t get them all.

Regards,
Nawar
