Canadian Observer - Canadian exports to West market begin to climb
Net Canadian exports have averaged of 4.7 Bcf/d so far in March, 0.9 Bcf/d below February's average and down 2 Bcf/d from January’s average. The decline is due to three reasons. First, total US demand is down 13 Bcf/d from February and 20 Bcf/d below January. Second, the TransCanada Nova pipeline had been operating on a IT delivery restriction notice for much of March that was limiting exports into the West market. Third, Western and Eastern Canadian storage has been operating at vast deficits compared with the five-year average. As a result, Canadian supplies have been needed to to meet domestic demand. Earlier this week, the IT delivery restriction was lifted and after posting a month-to-date average of 2 Bcf/d, exports to the West market have begun to climb and were at 2.4 Bcf for Thursday's evening cylce. Total net exports are up day-over-day by 0.1 Bcf to 4.8 Bcf Thursday.less
