RE:GCO > China, Easpring, Panasonic & Tesla
nopoo wrote: China is the world's, or soon will be, the world's largest lithium-ion car battery maker. Easpring is China's largest battery maker. Easpring is Panasonics largest supplier. Panasonic is in partnership with Tesla - as a battery supplier and an investor in the Gigafactory.
GCO is supplying Easpring with Cobalt making GCO the huge winner here.
Get it?
Good.

Good post. I think it's important to explain why Russia/China/GCO is important for the next 10 years. The locality and enviromental issues are getting all the focus which is valid,,, however, it will be 10 years before refineries/processing infrastructure changes significantly with new supplies.

"China lacks of cobalt ore resources, with the total proven reserves of cobalt approximating 80,000 tons, accounting for just 1% of global total, and the vast majority of proven resources are associated ore, whereas independent mineralized cobalt ore occupies only 4.7 % of the reserves in
China. Known cobalt ores in
China are mainly distributed in
Gansu province which makes up 30.5% of
China's cobalt reserves.
China is a big consumer of cobalt, which is primarily utilized in downstream sectors to produce battery, hard alloy, magnetic materials and other products. In 2012, cobalt used in batteries takes up 67% of total consumption of cobalt in
China"

60% of the worlds cobalt comes from the DRC Congo. That cobalt and cobalt from Canada, etc, usually ends up in China. %50 of cobalt is refined in China. China has it's own demand for cobalt and it's quite likely that China will be relied on for the first half decade of the Tesla factory. GCO seems pretty confident in this regard.

GIN: Tesla will require a stable supply of materials for its factory. What will that mean for juniors?
GCO: When operating at capacity, Tesla’s gigafactory will require a tremendous amount of these metals. To feed this appetite, Tesla and its partner Panasonic (TSE:6752) will require a steady supply of these materials. Global Cobalt has already put in place an offtake agreement with Beijing-based Easpring (SZSE:300073), China’s largest supplier of battery-grade material to Panasonic.

GCO is a great value right now. Increasing position.
