RE:IP Purchase Oct 7, 2013I'm intriqued here, but am waiting on the sidelines to learn more about their new IP when the company is ready to discuss it further. I have a very significant position in Covalon and do believe this company can/will grow by multiples based on the value of their Covalon shares alone, but I choose to own Covalon directly for that exposure.
Regarding their new IP, I called and spoke to the CEO, Jeffrey Mandell, a couple months ago. Mr. Mandell was judicious in his conversation not to violate any disclosure rules or to tip their hand about exactly what their IP involved. The company is still working on putting the protections in place for the IP, but he did say the IP revolved around trying to secure data against data breaches, such as the highly-publicised breach at Target stores. I asked if it had any involvement with the chip & PIN technology we heard so much about on the news, he explained that that solution only did so much and wouldn't have prevented the Target breach anyway.....their IP was a code solution that would.
I'm a bit of a sceptic about technology investments, ussually there's multiple routes that lead to the same destination and patents only serve to help the competition find the bypass, but I am keen to keep an eye out here because Abe Schwartz has a background that commands respect in technology.
Good luck!
