Flash-OFDM improves WIN's odds at success. Now that ATT and has introduced a product using OFDM, this technology will continue to gain support and acceptance around the world. WIN's first battle is to make sure that OFDM becomes a well used technology. If this happens, it will almost guarantee that WIN will be successful as a stand alone company, or as part of another company.
While ATT is planning to run trials of their product by the end of 2000, WIN has already proven their product works, and is working furiously to improve their product's speed, reliability and price point. That what you get for having a 5 year head start on the rest of the wireless world.
The trade magazines are starting to talk about OFDM more and more. The techies are starting to consider it a possible last mile solution. The ball is rolling, and I expect more companies to announce they have a version of OFDM.
By the way, according to the president of UBS, their C-OFDM technology is suited for point to multipoint vehicle use only (not suited for PDAs), as its power requirement is too great.
