Kynar 500
I'm researching steel(metal) roofs tonight because my 25 yr gaurantee asphalt shingles need to be replaced after 12 yrs and my gaurantee is worth $200.... anyways...
Premium steel shingles have a product called Kynar 500 in them and when reseaching this product came across the following from a ARKEMA INC reseach paper
https://www.arkema-inc.com/pdf/techpoly/Iezzi_Article_From_PCI%20Mag.pdf
An other artice mention how PPG and other large paint companies are all using KYNAR... and there are other "KYNAR type" products being produced...

Linetec enjoys partnerships with PPG, Valspar, Sherwin Williams and Akzo Nobel, leading manufacturers of Kynar 500 PVDF resin-based coatings. With over 30,000 unique colors in our palette and the ability to match almost any color in-house, Linetec will provide the perfect, long-lasting color for your project.
I know this is not new or earth shattering news but just another reminder of how
in demand our product
is and will be in the future... and at about 1/3 to 1/2 the cost...
A crucial consideration in the selection of pigments
for Kynar 500-based coatings is that the pigments must
have the same long-term (20 to 30 years) atmospheric
durability as Kynar resins. The following pigments are
usually used to achieve this long-term durability.
• Calcined metal oxide and mixed metal oxides,
• Rutile titanium dioxide — exterior grade, and
• Mica pearlescent — exterior grade.
The calcined inorganic pigments are manufactured at
very high processing temperatures (up to 2,400°F or
1,315°C) to stabilize the metal oxide. The calcining
process provides excellent chemical and thermal stability
to the pigment. This imparts excellent exterior durability,
bleed resistance and color retention to the coating
in even the most severe environments.
Exterior-grade rutile titanium dioxide is the most
commonly used white pigment because of its nonchalking
characteristics and long-term exterior durability.
