Politics are boring.
Politics are boring. For most people involved in Oil investments especially exploration they tend to be overly impressed by by the postings of people who have some professional standing in the industry. Nothing wrong with getting the benefit of somebodys experience, but it can be a double edged sword when you accept their technical posts at face value, and you lack the knowledge of their profession to question their opinion.
This is why we are fortunate in having Cfox, Espana, and Drillex posting on this BB. It is like having 3 docters of various qualifications giving their opinion of a patient over the internet as some now do.
The only drawback is the fact that they are not actually there in the field. Still it is good to hear their sometimes diverse opinions.
Then we have the people with a strong background in E&P finance who can valuate a companies potential for profit. Another professional field in which most investors lack knowledge.
We also have management, the most controversial area of any company, regardless of whether it is making pies or seeking oil. Everyone can claim that they could do better and like the chimpanzee picking out stocks, there is a possibility that you could in the very short term. Successful management is a combination of leadership, luck, timing, personality, ambitious drive, and an acute understanding of that boring subject Politics.
I have had an interest in politics in the past, and been involved when I had the time. I was involved in two parties, the Conservatives and the Reform party. There is nothing on this planet of any consequence that can occur withought a political wrangle of some sort.
When you have an opponent in politics you do in- depth research on the individual and try to find out what makes him tick. Strengths and weakness. Which is why the fox and his friend cybex leave a lot to be desired as clever investors. Criticising my posts because they sometimes dwell on politics is short sighted and close minded.
You can talk all day about the technical and financial aspects of any stocks in Iraq but if you ignore the Shahristani effect you are missing a large part of the equation and leaving yourself at a disadvantage.
INMHO.
