Shat,
Steam breakthroughs is another phrase to describe hot spots. In order to prevent damage to the well, they choke back steam. They still get production in the warm parts of the well, but the rest of the well is not producing. An ICD will control the problem. By installing an ICD, the steam can be turned up again. Initially we get more from the conforming part of the well (STP McKay so far has approx. doubled existing production on ICD installation)....then slowly over time , 4-6 months+, more of the well conforms and production can reach nameplate. So...adding an ICD to pad 2 has more immediate impact (because doubling bigger numbers), adding an ICD to Pad 1 has less immediate impact (doubling 50bbd is only adding 50bbd to production, doubling 300 adds 300 bbd) but more long term impact....(going from 50 to 800 is more impactful than going from 300 to 800). 2p5 is a good middle ground well to choose. It has been choked back to approx. 200 bbd. Adding an ICD should add approx. 200 bbd in the short term and approx. 800 bbd in the long term.
