Data Mining in the Financial Industry

Data Mining in the Financial IndustryIf anybody here logs onto Stockhouse using your company's I/T system, you should pay attention to this.

There was an article on the front page of the Financial Times on Saturday May 17 about how Deutsche Bank warned its employees that the company is now monitoring their emails, immediate messages and posts to chat boards.  Deutsche said they are looking for boastful and unprofessional language.  According to the article, many financial institutions around the world are doing it too but only Deutsche has gone public.  Financial institutions are doing this because the financial regulators are doing it too, looking for evidence they can use against the bank in court.  Deutsche told their employees that if they find anything, it will impact their careers.

Germany's privacy laws are very strict.  So if a German bank can do this, nobody is safe from scrutiny.
