Tinkerine Studios is likely the least known new acquisition. Its slightly puzzling name is easily explained. It is a 3D printing company so named because 3D printing sector jargon includes “make” and “tinker”. Make had been grabbed by another small company, Makerbot, which was bought out for $403 million. That left tinker for the Vancouver based founders of Tinkerine. In case you think 3D printing is going to go away take note that a major Canadian investment firm today published a 116-page report on the industry.
