As reported by the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo, on Monday, Landim will buy the EP Energy and expect only the endorsement of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) to close the deal.

According to the report, the EP Energy will be acquired from the American fund Apollo Global Management. The oil company has concessions to explore and produce in Camamu-Almada basins, in Bahia, Espírito Santo and Rio Grande do Norte.

This is an important acquisition for Ouro Preto, company Landim, but, according to the businessman, will require much investment. "We'll have to put much money into exploration," he told Estado.

Rivalry

Eike and Landim not peck and rivalry between the two began years ago. In 2006, former billionaire Landim invited to join his holding company, in exchange for a stake in their companies.

There was no formal agreement between them and Eike wrote in his own hand the invitation with the promise of participation, which in fact did not happen. Landim filed a lawsuit in court against businessman to enforce their rights.

I think Landim is the guy who we much later were told tried a takeover of HRT.
This could lead one to surmise another takeover battle once the Poison pill is lifted.
