Bentek Energy 6/18/2014 | 6:05 AMRockies Observer - Rockies outflows unable to capture rising demand to the east
Rockies outflows to the east may increase only marginally in response to rising power burn demand in the Midwest. Warming temperatures in the Midwest are expected to push power burn demand up by 1.9 Bcf/d higher or 8 CDDs higher on Thursday from the prior five day average. To meet this uptick in demand the Midwest will likely source the majority of the incremental supply from Canada, as Canadian supplies are more economic than the Rockies. During the last 30 days Rockies flows to the east have declined by 0.4 Bcf/d to 3.0 Bcf/d, compared to the same time period last year. Bentek's CellCAST data suggests Rockies flows into the Midwest will continue declining, averaging 2.7 Bcf/d for the rest of summer.less
