RE:RE:Bright Side?Hello Old Timer and Silverwhere,
First, I agree with you that the government will need to develop a good strategy for dealing with the illegal ming and maybe they start thinking pragmatically instead of politically. It seems the ANM has been on the correct path so maybe their coordination with the Federal Government will be important here as it goes forward in getting back on the path of sustainable development. As you mentioned, this is unsustainable and is leading to the prospect of an envrionmental disaster.
I worry that the Congress with Uribe's party could become like the EEUU (USA) with alot of fighting. If the FARC process is transparent and when it comes to a vote the Colombian people will have the final say. Uribe's Pary will be influential and it shows this country is split on how they want it done. The Colombian Military has been vigilant and hopefully they will be able to help solve these problems that have been created by the delays.
I personally believe Colombia has the ability to become the number one country in Latin America over Brazil if they work together. They have strong resources, good ports but now they need to find the political coordiantion that Peru, Chile, and a number of other countries have. I think they could replace the B in BRIC to become CRIC if Santos' pivots from a politician to a leader.
Their football/soccer team is one of the stars of this Copa Mundial so the Colombian people are taking pride in this development.
Let's also hope EOM's Directors have transparency as well.
Question and this was put forth by an individual a few months ago. Is there a deal in place once this is resolved to consolidate. It would make sense once a determination is made by the federal government.
Tengan fe en Colombia!
