WavestoreUSA Adds Support for Avigilon Cameras to VMS SW

WavestoreUSA Adds Support for Avigilon Cameras to VMS SW

As I was saying in earlier posts, the market Avigilon operates in is very fragmented and there are a slew of hardware and software manufacturers out there.

A little while ago, there were reports that some major VMS software companies had removed or weren't implementing support for Avigilon cameras, probably in the hope of deterring users from acquiring Avigilon products since they also offer competing VMS software products, which says something about how big a threat they see in Avigilon.

If you stop and think about it, this really is counterproductive, as integrators who might want to offer these other software solutions to their customers would need to either have customers

A) Run the new and the old software in parallel, assuming the customer doesn't want to replace Avigilon cameras they already have recently installed - 2007 to today- which would increase the complexity and the TCO of the customer's setup

OR

B) Require the customer to replace the Avigilon cameras they already have installed with something else, which could potentially render a bid non-competitive because of the additional hardware a potential client might be required to purchase.
