Your ignorance about the POET process and the wishes of potential customers is staggering. None of POET's customers wish to be identified for several easy-to-understand reasons. For example, they don't want their competitors to discover that they have a new process which will make their whole line of products obsolete. Makes sense doesn't it?
Also, POET is new and they don't want to announce that they are building a superior product only to announce later that they couldn't make it work.
As for POET, they have developed the structures that customers will arrange into products. So if you are staying POET doesn`t have a chip ready you are accidently correct. POET will never have chips. The have the process that someone like GF will offer to device makers. The cash will flow through GF to us.
So just to recap. You are completely misguided about customers "coming forward". Nobody would ever do this. It would be stupid.
As for BAE, they can't buy out POET because they already have an arranged partnership with terms laid out in legal documents. And in the case of BAE, they would not only be the fab AND the device maker, but they would also fabricate devices (like a GF would) for other military contractors like Lockheed, Boeing, etc. They stand to gain a great deal just licensing the technology.
