Rights knowledge anyone?

Please correct me but does anyone know When the rights start trading must we excerise them at 65 cents in the future right away or by the expiry date..Usually they have an expiry date,hopefully they will expire 1 or 2 years down the road... Or do we have to exercise them right away.. since alot of us do not have the extra cash or can not risk any more on this thing after so many problems... Opinions or knowledge on the subject would be appreciated by alot of us... Thanks M
