Tesla is intending to become like Ikea I think. Get the vendors to sell slightly above marginal cost of production but below profitable levels.
I am very optimistic about Tesla's future. Part of my reason is that they will squeeze governments for grants and tax relief and squeeze vendors to get almost every last drop of blood.
The "buy American" blather is all about merchandising and government relations. You don't hear them say that they will pay a premium for local cobalt, lithium or graphite. They will want to buy materials at 10% below market and they in turn might buy 100% of the output of a quarry or mine. NGC is seen as the lead runner to get Tesla graphite business.
Tesla is on a mission to change the world. They just might succeed.
