RE:RE:RE:RE:Telescope Ground-Breaking

RE:RE:RE:RE:Telescope Ground-BreakingWhile Canada's vote to become a full member of the telescope consortium by contributing a certain amount of money seems straight forward, I find it odd that EIL's inclusion as contractor for the outside enclosure hinges totally on Canada's level of contribution.

EIL's sub has solid credentials to be the contractor(50% of all big telescopes).  If I was running the consortium, I can't imagine switching contractors at the last minute because Canada does or does not contribute X dollars to the project.

Have they already picked the backup contractor?  Is that contractor working on the project now?

I will be surprised if EIL doesn't get this contract regardless of what Canada does.

Guess we'll find out in the next few months.
