shorters actually have way more possible risk. If we invest $10,000 the most we can lose is $10,000. But if a shorter shorts $10,000 worth of shares it can possibly go up over 300% then he has to pay $30,000 to cover the original $10,000. Now the odds of that happening I'd say are slim with most stocks, but the risk is always there.
