Mission in New York Premier promotes the Plan Nord and Maritime Strategy in New York
Quebec, September 23, 2014 - Prime Minister, Philippe Couillard, today concluded a two-day mission to New York with the key priorities of the Government of Quebec, including the Plan Nord and Maritime Strategy in the context of activities economic and high-level meetings.
Mr. Couillard spoke as a guest of honor at a luncheon of the Foreign Policy Association (FPA), where he put forward that the Quebec government to build on the strengths Quebec to ensure a sustainable and prosperous economic development. Before a packed house made up of members of the FPA as well as representatives from the worlds of finance and the New York economy, the Prime Minister presented the main projects of the Plan Nord and Maritime Strategy highlighting the potential business represented by these sites.

This project adds to a series of competitive advantages that make Quebec a leading economic partner to understand the various business opportunities that are emerging on the world stage, "said Mr. Couillard.
In the energy sector, Mr. Couillard wished to recall that Quebec is the fourth largest producer of hydroelectricity in the world and that renewable and low carbon energy can help our American partners to address the energy challenges they face .
This last day of visit was also an opportunity for Mr. Couillard support a dozen Quebec exporters of agri-food sector involved in promotional activity organized by the Québec Government Office in New York to to break the American market. Finally, Mr. Couillard was involved in various economic and financial meetings as well as editorial tables Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal.
