OSI Systems Inc. Forms OSI Fibercomm Inc. Subsidiary to Focus on the Growing Fiber Optic Business
Company Announces New Management Team for OSI Fibercomm Inc.
Hawthorne, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 2000--OSI Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:OSIS - news), a worldwide provider of security solutions, pressure-sensitive electronic subsystems, optoelectronics, and fiber optic active and passive components, today announced the formation of OSI Fibercomm Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company dedicated to advancing OSI Systems' fiber optic business.
Industry veteran Jack Basi has joined OSI Fibercomm Inc. as Vice President/General Manager to establish the presence of the new company in the marketplace. Basi brings over 20 years of extensive industry experience in the Networking and Telecommunications arenas. Basi served as Vice President with Penril Datacom Networks, Artel Communications Corp., and Securicor Telesciences, and has also held various strategic marketing positions with Digital Equipment Corporation. Basi was most recently at Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC), where he served as Director of Marketing, Datacom and Computer Products.
Dr. Narayan Taneja, Senior Scientist and Vice President at UDT Sensors (a wholly owned subsidiary of OSI Systems Inc.), has been named to the new position of Vice President of Research & Development of OSI Fibercomm Inc. Taneja will spearhead continuing research in fiber optic telecom products.
