RE:Short Position's Ending Sept 30th

Hi Realist
So someone buys 583,600 short positions - what's to stop that same person from buying say
75,000 shares at market and when the bid positions get relatively thin - dump those shares which drives down the SP into their short positions and they cash out big time?

I don't see any pending news that would cause/justify the Sept 30th increase in MBX short positions

Thoughts/comments?
