Annual Saul Goldstein Memorial Lecture

Annual Saul Goldstein Memorial Lecture

The Hon. Bob Rae, former Premier of Ontario, will be speaking about Ontario's Ring of Fire.

On November 12th, 2014 former Premier of Ontario, Bob Rae, will be discussing Ontario's Ring of Fire, which he explains is not solution to poverty in remote aboriginal communities.

According to Rae, the Ring of Fire project has the potential to drive ecnonomic developmnent in Ontario and could be an economic shift for First Nations in the area, but that the money from the massive proposed mineral project can't be counted on to fix nothern community's woes.

Rea claims that the Ring of Fire is not the magic solution to poverty, because we need to get people ready for jobs and for work first, "we've got to create the conditions under which people are able to participate in the workforce."

Bob Rae will speak about this topic in greater detail, and answer any questions you may have, at our Annual Saul Goldstein Lecture
