Canadian Social Gaming Trailblazer Proves There's Big, Big Money In Fun and Games: $100 Million Dollars Worth
Despite the recent financial calamities in the markets, one sector that is beating the odds has to do with sheer escapism.
SOCIAL GAMING
For those not familiar with the term “Social Gaming”, chances are you're already doing it – either on your iPhone, Android, or on Facebook. In fact today adults play more Social games than kids, with 54% of adult players being female, average age 40, and 46% of adult players being male, average age 37.
Social Gaming is, in reality, “faux” gambling: Playing poker without actually betting any money.
HOW BIG IS SOCIAL GAMING?
Big enough that Toronto's Imperus Technologies Corp. has tabled a C$100 Million offer to purchase Israel-based game developer Diwip, which produces a catalogue of top-grossing titles, including its best-seller, “Best Casino” a staple for its 24 million players, many of them Facebook users. Diwip earned US$28.3 million generating approximately US$14.7 million of EBITDA in 2013.
The Diwip deal is a cash, plus incentives based proposal that is so potentially lucrative that Imperus' stock (LAB:TSX Venture) has been halted pending review to try and stem the flow of everyone going “All In” on the news.
BUT THAT’S REALLY ONLY THE BEGINNING
Toronto based Imperus’ management team is well known for creating, developing and marketing world class gaming products while at GameForge, Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker, the latter two recently purchased by Amaya for US$4.9 Billion dollars.
Imperus is quickly becoming an international gaming leader, licensing its proprietary online gaming platform CASINA®, which provides mobile, social and real money gamers an immersive social gaming experience, to entities such as, The MTN Group an EMEA telecom provider with 215 million customers, Cladstone a UK real money online gaming operator, and Microgame S.P.A. Italy’s largest online gaming provider. In addition to purchasing DIWIP, Imperus recently purchased Toronto-based Vast Studio's, an in demand Hidden Object game developer, with 8 of its games designated “collectors editions”.
IMPERUS has trademarked the word “CASINA” and believes in the online gaming market the CASINA brand will become synonymous with Mobile / Social / Real Money Gaming the way Google is with search engines and Tesla is with fast electric cars.
