While it is true that weak oil suggests a back drop of deflation, such as in 2008, energy costs are a big part of the overhead costs of miners.

So, weak energy price can help miners' bottom lines, if the POG can stabilize and/or move higher.

The ideal situation for gold miners is for the POG to have relative strength to the price of energy.
