The project is seeking to secure licenses in order to import natural gas from the United States and export LNG from the site for a 25-year term. The export facility aims to export 8 million tonnes of LNG per year (~1.1 Bcf/d) by 2019 before potentially ramping up to 12 million tonnes per year in 2024 (~1.6 Bcf/d), depending on market and supply conditions. The terminal plans to source natural gas from producing basins in Canada and the United States.
