RE:I Care About Who Is Selling

RE:I Care About Who Is Selling

No Staycalm, that was me, just trying to be sarcastic, guess it didn't come across as intended.
So here's the list of current major shareholders and recent changes to their porfolios:

https://quote.morningstar.ca/Quicktakes/owners/MajorShareholders.aspx?t=SAU&region=CAN&culture=en-CA

As you can see, one Swiss fund Earth Resources decreased their holdings by 50% or 2.5 million to 2.4 millino which represents 1% of their total assets over the course of the year, down from 2%.     However, in the past several months a Spanish fund, DWS Investments, bought about the same number of shares, 2 million, to make SAG a 0.76% value in their total assets.

Also, since Sept 2014, Franklin Templeton added 300,000 shares to their 9 million shares but SAG represents only a tiny % of their assets.

So it looks like only one large Fund has been selling and there could be many reasons for that, not least of which many Funds likely dropped all their gold holdings by half across the board, indiscriminantly.       Again, that Earth Resources Fund still has SAG as 1% of its assets, not an unreasonable position in a diversified materials portfolio.

I still find some of the Ask price and volume to be odd, suggesting that someone is low balling the Asks in order to drop the price.      In any case, i've used this weakness to buy more, even getting some at 9 cents.
