Energy Summery StockwatchRichard Gonzales's Petro-Victory Energy Corp. (VRY) had a bad day, losing nine cents to 21 cents on 2.08 million shares. It is facing a delay in Paraguay. In October, the company and its 64-per-cent joint venturer, London-listed President Energy, made the first oil discovery in Paraguay's Chaco basin, after their Lapacho well found light oil and condensate in the Icla formation. Investors sent Petro-Victory's stock to 26 cents from 15.5 cents, cheery because Icla was not even the target formation. That would be the deeper Santa Rosa. The companies kept drilling ahead to target depth, with results from the Santa Rosa expected in mid-November. A less-than-pleasing update came today. Although the well has hit the upper section of the Santa Rosa and found gas/condensate sands, the results cannot yet be classified as a discovery. The well has still not reached total depth and the next update will not come until early December. Investors seem disappointed, although it is also possible that some of them see the uncertainty as a good time to take profits. Even with today's drop, the stock is still more than triple its October low of six cents.
