AND, they aren't based on the price of the stock, they are based on the performance of the underlying business (cash flow per share, production, etc.). Restricted units can have performance targets but sometimes do not. Performance Units always have performance metrics to meet. In any event, this is the pay structure of all public companies so live with it. The institutional investors wanted companies to move away from options and go to performance units and cash bonus because it's easier for them to value as option value based on black scholes is useless. I have no problem with mgmt getting paid as the share price currently has nothing to do with the underlying fundamentals of the business. Those RSUs were worth 2x as much a few months ago so they aren't getting one over on you, or me!
