RE:Niko For SaleWhat could NKO be worth if the sale of the company as a whole were an option?
Book Value, or Net Asset Value of NKO according to Financial Post is 2.44$/share (see below), net of liabilities and debt.
https://www.financialpost.com/markets/company/profile/index.html?symbol=NKO&id=34068
Investopedia defines "Book Vaue"
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/bookvalue.asp
- The net asset value of a company, calculated by total assets minus intangible assets (patents, goodwill) and liabilities.
- It is the total value of the company's assets that shareholders would theoretically receive if a company were liquidated.
- By being compared to the company's market value, the book value can indicate whether a stock is under- or overpriced.
I don't think they will go up for sale willingly at this point. Hostile take-over maybe. But if it were up to NKO themselves, I think they will divest all their other assets before they sell India. I think they are very hopefl that over the course of the next few gas price hikes (6 month increments) the price will go up to what they were hoping, in the 8$ range. After all, every oil major operating in the country, including India's own national companies are pushing for this. If India wants foreign investment, or even domestic investment they need to do this. The only people moderately satisfied with the gas price are the general population. We know that in a globalized economy the general population have very little voice. Money talks loudest.
