Possible Reversal I have seen Peters buying & selling oil stocks in large quantities. Has to be an institutional order. More than 20 % gain in one day was created by the large quantity of shares bought by Peters & the style of buying which triggered more buying in the stock.
In certain conditions aggressive large institutional selling can trigger sell-off & at times large buying can trigger more buying & big spike in share price.
RBC ran the usual small buy program in the morning but the stock spiked very fast & RBC could only buy few thousand shares under $3.00. They were not party to this run up. Saw some trades from RBC above $3.00 not sure if they were related to buy back. The total number of shares bought by RBC for all accounts was not too many. TMX has not yet updated the insider report.
The stock jumped over $3.00 in the first 30 minutes of trading & kept on running all day with very small pull backs when Peters was not taking out the offers. Peters triggered waves of buying. From time to time a few sellers came out to sell thinking that Peter was done. But Peters kept coming back & even bought some shares in the last five minutes before the close.
The main question is if Peters is done buying or will he be buying tomorrow again.
Barring a further collapse in Oil price. LTS chart is looking better. There was short consolidation & we have a possible reversal. The stock is now above the 20 sma & has closed well above the last high. With sharp spikes there is always a possibility of some retesting. But one has to be careful not to blow out all shares too early.
Traders use to sell under 20 sma or next bounce & buy new lows & in the last few weeks around $2.70 area. If the reversal holds then this stock should be creating higher lows & should not dip too much below the 20 sma. In a reversal 20 sma is a buy. If this is not a reversal & the oil remains weak then there is possibility of the stock being range bound & consolidattion before the next leg up.
You cannot ignore the short position & buy back. that is extra gravy. Which would provide lot of support to the stock & in ideal conditions set the stock on fire, like today?
Personally I did not expect the stock to run up over 20 % in a day. High beta & small flaot stocks you can get big spikes. The exciting thing about stock market is that it is unpredictability.
