Rising prices - no guarantee they will stay high.
WPX - potential partners are woeful of the high start-up costs and it will be next to impossible to structure a deal with too any players.
RIO - deep pockets:
  • and if things were looking good Rio would buy out Acron to have sole control.
  • Rio can wait.... the foreseeable upside occurs in 2020 and beyond. 3-4 years to build a mine means the wait can be till 2017 and still hit the ground running. On the alternate end WPX is buring cash at the rate of $10M / year.... 2016 and done. Perfect timing for RIO.
The time to get off the pot is now for WPX ...and unfortunately they may need to give up more than investors would like. 

Sad..but true
