.."f the right legislature is presented before parliament the MPP won't have any choice but to play ball. Our immediate interest is the signing of an OT agreement. That will take place between the DP and RIO not between the MPP and RIO. If RIO and the DP settle all disputes what is the MPP going to do then, object to an agreement Rio Tinto supports and risk being wiped out in the next election?
My optimism comes from everyone from TRQ shareholders to Rio Tinto, the GOM and the Mongolian man and women on the street having reached their limit with whats been going on in the last 18 months and wanting, if not outright demanding change. TRQ & RIO have presented a plan they hope will end the stalemate. From the Sam Walsh off the cuff interview you get the sense he is anxious to get to work on the underground. That is a welcome change coming from RIO where before it was strictly hard nosed silence. Saikhanbileg for TRQ shareholders is key to reaching an OT agreement so until he proves us wrong I say let's give him our guarded support."..
