Titanium dioxide pigment (TiO2) is an inorganic white solid used as a pigment found in a variety of products such as coatings, plastics, food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products. It is the brightest and whitest pigment available today and is used to create whiteness and opacity in products such as paint, toothpaste, sunscreen and many foods.

Argex’s patented extraction process for pigment grade TiO2 production allows us to capture the entire supply chain in one process. We uniquely convert low cost ilmenite into high purity TiO2 that meets the rigorous requirements of the coating and plastic industries, all while maintaining high energy efficiency, low emissions and a closed-loop design.

Our new Valleyfield plant will house the company's first industrial scale titanium dioxide (TiO2) production facility.

We are currently looking for a Sr. Project Control Specialist – Lead to join our team that will ensure the successful construction of our first production plant in Valleyfield.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Sr. Project Control Specialist – Lead is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the project costs and schedules in order to ensure project sustainability and completion in time and within budget.

  • Supervises a team of project controls staff
  • Coordinates Cost and Schedule interfaces with the EPC consultant (engineering and construction) and the owner
  • Coordinates Cost and Schedule interfaces with the Long Lead Equipment suppliers
  • Responsible for developing, monitoring and updating the project budget and schedule, verifying actual progress and forecasting schedule
  • Responsible for reporting and administering internal Project Controls Policies and Procedures
  • Responsible for Project Budget Control
  • Responsible for Cost Estimating
  • Responsible for tracking performance (including quantities) and measuring achievement of project success
  • Provide project reporting (weekly and monthly basis)

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • University degree in engineering is desirable, but a college diploma coupled with at least 10 years of project control experience is acceptable
  • Certification in PMI / AACE such as PMP, PMI-SP, CAPM, CST, CCT, CSP is highly desirable
  • 10 to 20 years of experience working in Project Controls on heavy industrial projects
  • 5 to 10 years of field experience on heavy industrial projects
  • Proficient in Cost Control and Earned Value Measurement
  • Working knowledge of planning using Primavera Project
  • Supervisory experience necessary leading a team of project controls (minimum 5 years)
  • Experience with Risk Management would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Bilingual (French - English)
  • Proficient with MS Excel and MS Access, as well as Prism (or other similar cost software)

INFORMATION ABOUT THE POSITION:

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Frequent travel (50%) will be required during the project phase
  • Must be able to travel extensively (including international travels) for the initial engineering phase of the project (first 6 to 12 months)
  • Work location will be Montreal,QC but the individual will work on site in Valleyfield,QC during project phase (approx. 24 months)
