To raise $10m in an open PP (which was impossible anyway) would have cost shareholders a lot more. The Nord Gold "offer" came too late (the AuRico deal was essentially done) and it is debatable whether it is as good - I think if the offer had been 12 cents they would have allowed shareholders to decide.

A really good CEO would have known that Nord Gold were ready to make an offer and at least used this to get a more competitive deal - he clearly left money on the table (which is easy to judge in hindsight).

I think Drost gets a passing mark on this deal but what he does with the cash now will determine how good he is. I don't have high hopes.
