Toronto-based social games developer TransGaming (TNG) has updated its World Poker Tour social game on the smart TV gaming platform GameTree to feature second-screen and multiplayer capabilities.
The update allows players to access the game through iOS and Android devices to enhance the social experience of the game. When connected to a smart TV, up to six players can use their phones to view their hands, while the TV screen displays the poker table.
This allows users to check their cards, bet, raise and fold, while all viewing the action on the same TV.
The app, under the name GameTree TV, is now available for download from Apple’s iTunes Store and from Google Play for Android devices.
World Poker Tour on GameTree TV to bring the energy and atmosphere of playing in a real poker tournament to the home environment.
“The addition of multiplayer features to the title provides players with the most realistic and immersive World Poker Tour experience, delivering a social engagement that makes the WPT tournaments so unique.
TransGaming has rolled out its GameTree platform to smart TVs through partnerships with a variety of leading manufacturers including Sony, Panasonic and Toshiba, while also integrating its platform with online streaming services like Roku.
First launched last year, the World Poker Tour game claims to be the only licensed Texas Hold’em tournament game available for smart TVs.
