You are correct that spec stocks don't behave like those with earnings. They swing wildly and ramp up immensely upon news such as an expedited FDA submission for Bladder Cancer. Then they continue to move higher as the submission date nears and the word is spread. Telesta traded up briefly and then tanked after a weird financing and hasn't moved since. This is not treading like a speculative penny biotech, in any sense. It is trading and valued like an early stage biotech with a mildly insteresting P1 agenda in front of the FDA, without the promotion that would go along with that P1 submission. What does Nortel have to do with this and why do Canadians always invoke this company when they want to bring out the boogey man?
