Gotcha. Now you have a firm understanding how shorting and dividends work because you made money shorting a few oil stocks. Every time you say something, it actually has nothing to do with the original argument. Here is some more for you. Now you say I own this stock because of the dividend, and "if you did you wouldn't have invested in it". Reading comprehension is not your strong suit. I just finished saying that if they cut the dividend 100%, I will be a buyer of the stock at that time. For those of us that are not learning impaired, that would let you know that I don't own the stock. You look stoooopider and stooopider every time you post. The funny thing about truly stoooopid people, is that they can't understand how they are stooopid, even when other people show them in black and white.

aaaaargh - you got me.

I'm humbled, and feel stupid - you and everyone else on this discussion are right, you guys win. I ended up paying the div of 3.5c for a grand total of just over 5500, strangely enough though I didn't noticed it until I closed out the trade. I was more involve in my nat gas trade than this for a couple of weeks and has been a whirlwind and exciting good time, but have always checked back here for insight by others, a lot of good ideas here and other boards.

Do you know how I can get that 5500 back? I'm thinking since we're still on december and I still have around Dec 26-28th to be a shareholder on record and since no confirmation that div is going to get cancelled and paid out for december - if I buy it I can surely get it back, right? of course, in order for me to get that amount I'll have to purchase it outright and hang on to it until end of the month, maybe I'll wait and see what happens with the stock, tax loss selling deadline is dec 24th - maybe I can pick it up then and quietly accumulate over that period so I can collect back the 5500 and then dump it over in one shot or spread out a few days after.

That would be a perfect scenario, or I'll just let it go - I'm not greedy though, its 3.5c or 5500, I can't win every trade - I took a loss on my natgas trade today but manage to swing out a small profit by the close = phew.

your opinion would be appreciated though. thanks.

by the way, great screen name, hang in there.
