To be expected as there are significant energy sector holdings. The lower volitility is due to shareholders being restricted to a max of 10% redemptions/year. I believe there are some  benefits in a down market because with other open ended funds where unit holders can redeem their units after the obligatory hold period, when unit holders hit the exits, the funds must sell what ever stocks offer liquidity to meet the redemptions. This usally puts pressure on the best assets within the fund, hollowing out value, sector balance and liquidity.....With EIT.UN, a more balanced portfolio is maintained and asset values recover more quickly......
