Exclusivity is common practice - the buyer will insist on it and the board will agree if they believe the buyer is acting in good faith and a reasonable deal can be struck. Exclusivity does not prevent other bidders - Nord Gold could have asked for their standstill agreement to be voided back in Sept. Perhaps management didn't feel comfortable with Nord Gold and given what happened after the AuRico deal I can understand why.

All investigations are secret - can you imagine what would happen if the OSC announced they were investigating a company just because some disgruntled shareholder was suspicious! In any case there is nothing to investigate. It has to be gross incompetence for anyone to interfere in board decisions and a board choosing one buyer over another is impossible to discredit as it is only in hindsight that you can say they got it wrong.

Why haven't you phoned Bruce and asked him to explain what happened? He is very approachable and open - what he can say over the phone in confidence is much more than he can announce publicly. Remember Bruce has 20+ million shares - he places shareholder value very highly as it is personal for him. Call him! Ask him about AuRico and Carlisle's future plans as well.
