RE:RE:RE:Interesting article
RE:RE:RE:Interesting articleHere is a few highlights he says in that article
1)The only device on the market that actually delivers ads to smartphones is iSIGN Media’s Smart Antenna, which sends real images, coupons and videos using both Bluetooth and WiFi to iOS, Android and Blackberry devices. This is a sophisticated commercial product that should not be confused with a cheaply fabricated plastic fob that can only repeat a single phrase
2)The only solution is to pay staff or a service company to replace every coin cell in every beacon twice per year, or expect guaranteed outages as beacons blurt their dying chirp. Imagine the recurring cost! iSIGN’s Smart Antenna will be immune to this fate since it uses a wall outlet fed PoE power supply plugged into its weatherproof, metal casing.
3)iPhone will require you to hand over your personal information and credit card details to Apple’s iTunes Store, even to download free apps. As for the Google App Store, leave your hopes of anonymity at the door. I’m not at all worried about iSIGN, since the Smart Antenna does not gather any information about me except for one piece of anonymous info: it is my iPhone’s MAC address, a random serial number that enables it to connect to cellular and WiFi networks.
4)I think iSIGN did it right when the put the web server on the Smart Antenna, allowing it to feed the latest info to shoppers without the need for internet access or for the shopper to pay by using their device’s cellular data feature.
