Production decline rates in the Llanos Basin

Production decline rates in the Llanos BasinI noticed that production decline rates in the Llanos Basin are quite high, as follows:

Average production in Q1 2014: 6.478 boed (see Q1 2014 results press release)

Average production in Q2 2014: 6.513 boed (see Q2 2014 results press release)

Exit rate for Q2 2014: 6.013 boed (see Q2 2014 results press release)

Average production in Q3 2014: 5.031 boed (see Q3 2014 MD&A report)

Average production in October 2014: 4.064 boed (see Q3 2014 MD&A report)

So, production in the Llanos basin has declined from 6.513 boed in Q2, to 4.064 boed in October 2014 (38% decline rate in 4 months).

This high decline rates will make more difficult the goal of substantially increase production rates going forward.

Has any special event ocurred to produce this high decline rates? or are these the "normal" decline rates for Petroamerica`s wells in the Llanos basin?

Comments are welcome.

Thanks in advance

Fernando
