Rig count stats

Rig count statsIt will be interesting to see the Baker Hughes rig count announcement at 1.00PM today. They have not published for two weeks probably due to the holiday schedule. I’m expecting to see a decline in the number of active rigs, as the industry adjusts to the “new oil price reality”. The current gas directed rig count sits at 338. This figure is low and has been in this territory (below 400) for nearly 2 years. However the oil and liquids directed rig count has been sitting at all-time highs (according to my records going back to the start of 2011. The peak was 1609 hit on Oct. 10th of this year but it has been falling steadily since, - to 1536 as of Dec.19th. I will post today’s figures as soon as they become available.
