WRIT Media Group, Inc. (WRIT) Capitalizing on Growing Intere WRIT Media Group, Inc. (WRIT) Capitalizing on Growing Interest in Vintage Gaming
With the seemingly limitless expansion of interest in vintage video game titles throughout markets around the globe and a growing market for mobile gaming solutions, WRIT Media Group, Inc. (OTCQB: WRIT), through its subsidiaries Retro Infinity, Inc. and Amiga Games, Inc., is working to bring some of the classics back to life on smartphones, modern game consoles, microconsoles, PCs and tablets. Since Amiga Games was acquired in July 2013, along with Retro Infinity’s formation in October 2013, the company has focused on advancing through the massive collection of popular titles beginning with those released on Microsoft Windows predecessor MS-DOS.
In September 2014, WRIT Media Group, through Retro Infinity, launched online point of sale platforms in order to market their library of classic gaming titles directly to consumers. Inclusion of Windows-based computer offerings, along with planned expansions including titles for Windows Phone, iOS and Android devices, was launched in conjunction with a massive advertising push by the company. Through a partnership with NASCAR and Rick Ware Racing (RWR), subsidiary Retro Infinity sponsored direct car and driver logo branding in conjunction with other event-related materials at the September NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Dover International Speedway. The sponsorship also encompassed six other races throughout four of NASCAR’s championship series in both United States and European markets.
WRIT Media Group, through its subsidiaries, uses proprietary technologies to create new revenue from dormant game libraries such as those from Amiga, but the company also has its focus on other titles. “While the Amiga platform is our primary base from which to grow, we can’t overlook the opportunity presented by all the excellent games released for other systems in the 16-bit era,” according to Patrick Roberts, President and COO of both Amiga Games and Retro Infinity. As mobile gaming becomes more popular with the increasing availability and affordability of smartphones and tablets, WRIT Media Group is continuing to work towards establishment in the rapidly expanding niche market.
