October 30, 2014 (TORONTO, ON) – TMX Group today announced that with the graduation of Fission Uranium Corp. (FCU) from TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV) to Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), the total number of companies to graduate from TSXV to TSX has reached 600 since January 1, 2000. These companies have raised $85 billion in equity capital on TSX since then.
"Our unique two-tier exchange system helps to facilitate growth and supports small, early-stage companies to ones that are growth oriented with strong performance track records," said John McCoach, President, TSX Venture Exchange. "Companies choose to list on TSXV for a number of reasons, including the benefits of seeking graduation to a senior market when they qualify for a senior listing; the increased access to capital; and the strong fundamentals in place in the Canadian capital markets."
There are 318 graduates listed on TSX, as at September 30, 2014, representing a market capitalization of almost $200 billion. 20% of these companies are currently in the S&P/TSX Composite Index, with three in the S&P/TSX 60 Index.
